Feeding Maine in Blue Hill
June 1, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - June 30, 2016 @ 12:00 pm
Blue Hill Public Library’s Britton Gallery is showing the new photo exhibit, Feeding Maine: Growing Access to Good Food, for the month of June. The show features photos by photographer Brendan Bullock, accompanied by writer Annie Murphy‘s captions, and highlights local food access efforts across Maine.
In conjunction with the exhibit, Maine Farmland Trust and Healthy Acadia will host a community discussion with local panelists about innovative projects that address hunger using local resources: rich farmland, skilled farmers, and community support. Participants will be offered a in-depth picture of diverse community programs that positively impact the Blue Hill peninsula’s food system, community health, and economy AND they will learn how to get involved with these efforts as collaborators or supporters. Presenters will include innovative projects and people, including Healthy Acadia’s Gleaning Initiative & FarmDrop manager Hannah Semler, and recipients of MFT’s Blue Hill Peninsula Community Food Grant. The conversation will be facilitated by Sara Trunzo of MFT’s Veggies For All. The event will be on June 22, from 6-8 PM at BHPL and is FREE to attend.
