Hard Cider Revival: Maine Fare in Portland
June 4, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$15
Portland. Maine Fare presents the Hard Cider Revival tasting event on Thursday, June 4th 7-9PM at Deering Grange Hall in Portland.
Tasters can sample the hard ciders of six up-and-coming cidermakers from across the state, including Urban Farm Fermentory, Norumbega Cidery, Whaleback Cider, Kennebec Cider, Portersfield Cider, and Oyster River Winery.
In addition, attendees will grow their knowledge about the burgeoning cider scene, and why cider in Maine is poised to grow. David Buchanan, heirloom fruit expert, cidermaker, and author of Taste, Memory, and Todd Little-Siebold, a cider enthusiast and professor at College of the Atlantic, will share their expertise about Maine cider, past, present, and future.
Rosemont Market and Bakery will provide local snacks, and while sipping cider, tasters will enjoy the acoustic Bluegrass/Celtic tunes of Harper Burke and Friends.
Tickets for the tasting are $15 and can be purchased online at maine-fare.org OR by calling 207-338-6575. Ticket holders receive 10 3oz pours, and must be 21 years of age to enter the event.
Maine Fare is an annual food festival hosted by Maine Farmland Trust and Penobscot East Resource Center that brings everyone to the table — farmers, fishermen, foodies, nonprofits, chefs, and entrepreneurs — to celebrate a vibrant and delicious future for Maine food. This year Maine Fare is offering several Portland area events leading up to the festival, which will be held June 26 and 27 on the waterfront in Belfast. More information at maine-fare.org.
