Maine Soil Health Network Launch
Location: The Milkhouse in Monmouth, ME
Please join MFT and The Milkhouse on Tuesday, June 22 from 5-8 pm to celebrate the launch of the Maine Soil Health Network, a collaboration between MFT and the Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment. The Maine Soil Health Network is a pilot project that will support an initial cohort of eight farms in learning about the effects of different farm management practices on the soil and deciding which practices to use in the future.
The launch will include a field tour led by Milkhouse farmers Caitlin Frame and Andy Smith who will discuss the soil health practices they are implementing on their farm. After the tour, Sarah Simon (MFT) and Leah Puro (WNC) will talk about the Maine Soil Health Network. Ellen Griswold (MFT) will give an overview of soil health policy efforts in Maine and at the federal level. Local beverages will be provided, and guests are encouraged to bring a picnic!
Our summer events will follow current CDC guidelines. Attendance is limited – please register in advance!
If you’re unable to attend the Soil Health Network Launch in-person, you can also sign up to receive a digital recap of the event, including video interviews with some of the farmers participating in the Soil Health Network.
