November 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Featuring Amanda Beal, the new executive director of Maine Farmland Trust, this event is part of Maine Audubon’s Speaker Series.
Location: Gilsland Farm, Greater Portland [map], Members: $10 Non-members: $15
Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) is dedicated to conserving Maine’s farmland, which is a critical part of our state’s heritage, economy, and way of life. Like Maine Audubon, MFT leverages education, stewardship, and advocacy in pursuit of their own conservation mission. In her talk, Ms. Beal will discuss the ways MFT is working to assure a vibrant and sustainable future for agriculture in Maine, with a focus on the many environmental, social, and economic benefits of keeping working farmland in our communities.
Amanda Beal has been a leader in agriculture, local foods and conservation in Maine for many years. She recently took the helm at Maine Farmland Trust, whose “goal is not just to protect Maine farmland, but to revitalize Maine’s rural landscape by keeping agricultural lands working and helping farmers, and their communities, thrive.”
This presentation is hosted in partnership with Maine Farmland Trust. Current members of both Maine Audubon and Maine Farmland Trust will enjoy the member pricing for this event.
