The Land that Sustains Us: Stories from the Field (March 29, 2018)
March 29, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
No matter how many seasons they have been with their soil, farmers develop a strong connection with their land. For each farmer, this relationship is unique and therefore, manifests differently into the food we eat and the communities we live in. MFT will host five farmers for a live storytelling night at Maine Craft Distilling to explore these relationships.
Stacy Brenner, of Broadturn Farm in Scarborough, will retrace the path from her suburban childhood, to farming in the suburbs today. John Snell, of Snell Family Farm in Buxton, will discuss what it means to have a connection to one piece of land that spans several generations. Other storytellers include Penny Jordan of Jordan’s Farm, Joe Grady of Two Coves Farm and Tom Settlemire, professor emeritus at Bowdoin College.
Maine Craft Distilling will offer free tastings of their farm to flask liquors throughout the day on the 29th and will lead a special tour of the distillery during the evening event. They will also offer a special selection of farm-focused local beers on draft.
