It is MFT’s practice to set compensation amounts that align with the successful candidate’s experience. We offer a possible salary range describing the level of compensation we’d expect to offer for the advertised position. In addition to competitive pay, MFT offers several benefits to its employees, including a group health plan, group vision and dental plans, 2 weeks of paid vacation at the start of employment, 14 paid holidays/year, a 401(k) Retirement Plan, wellness and farm share benefits, and other forms of paid time-off. FARMLAND ACCESS AND TRANSFER BUSINESS SPECIALIST 

Through MFT’s Farmland Access program, MFT assists farmland owners and farmland seekers to develop business plans that can result in both successful farm transfers and farm acquisitions. The Farmland Access and Transfer Business Specialist provides direct, individualized assistance as well as manages and assists the work of a team of advisers, as appropriate to each farm client’s situation.

This position is based out of MFT’s Belfast office with travel to MFT’s other offices and travel to client sites as necessary.

Salary range: $48,000-$60,000.

PHILANTHROPY OFFICER

MFT is looking for an exceptional fundraising professional to fill the position of Philanthropy Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for true people person as they will be joining MFT at an exciting time, as we work towards implementing our new five-year strategic plan and achieving ambitious and bold goals related to thriving farms, healthy and vibrant communities, mitigating climate change, and addressing inequities within our food and farming system.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a true people person with an outgoing nature, a self-starter who has at least 3-5 years of fundraising experience (preferably in securing five-figure gifts), and will be organized, prepared, and detail-oriented. This person will carry a portfolio of 250-300 donors and prospects, and will spend much of their time out of the office, meeting with donors in their homes, at their places of business, and in the community.  An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate Maine Farmland Trust’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities is key.

While the other members of the Philanthropy team are currently based in Portland, this position could be located in either MFT’s Portland or Belfast offices, with occasional travel to the other office location.

Salary commensurate with experience.

FARMLAND ACCESS AND FARM VIABILITY PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Farmland Access and Farm Viability Program Director’s primary responsibilities are to guide and support the work of all Farmland Access and Farm Viability Staff, to coordinate the administrative work of the Farmland Access and Farm Viability Programs, including planning, evaluation, budget development, and reporting, to supervise the Farmland Access and Farm Viability Program staff, and to participate in the management of MFT’s overall operations as a member of the Supervisors Team. This position also has responsibilities related to Farmland Access and Farm Viability program implementation and delivery. This position will report to the President & CEO. 

This position is based out of either of MFT’s offices, with occasional travel between offices required.

Salary range: $50,000-$60,000.

MFT is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant for its Portland office.  This position will provide support to the President & CEO, VP & CFO, and Director of Philanthropy, as well as manage the administrative aspects of the Portland office location.

This is an hourly position and the per hour range for this posting is $13 – $16/hour.

RESIDENT GARDENER AT JOSEPH A. FIORE ART CENTER (SEASONAL)

The Resident Gardener is responsible for establishing and tending a vegetable and flower garden at Rolling Acres Farm, as well as covering care taking and hosting functions for the Fiore Art Center. This position  will begin May 4 and end October 2, 2020. Resident gardener will report to the Director of the Fiore Art Center.
