MFT/NRCS Conservation and Climate Planner

This position, initially funded through a cooperative agreement with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) and NRCS, supporting the enrollment of farmers and landowners in Farm Bill programs while also providing technical assistance to farmers to create holistic climate adaptation plans and access additional sources of funding. The position will be a ‘one stop shop’ for farmers and landowners interested in increasing their operation’s resilience, creating a holistic and comprehensive operation plan, and accessing a wide range of funding opportunities to implement their chosen projects. The Conservation and Climate Planner will be employed and supervised by MFT staff as a member of MFT’s Climate Resilience team, while working closely and learning from NRCS staff.

Location: This full-time position can be based out of Maine Farmland Trust’s Portland or Belfast office, or can be remote but must remain based in Maine. The position will also be expected to work out of NRCS offices to some extent, with a preference for working out of the Waldo County office in Belfast. Final candidates must complete a background check authorization. Post-hire onboarding will be conducted by both MFT and NRCS staff.

Salary Range: $64,251

Climate Resilience Program Manager

The Climate Resilience Program Manager is a member of MFT’s Farm Network team. This position leads MFT’s Climate Resilience Program, which is staffed by a small cross-departmental team consisting of three shared staff positions, one of whom is a direct report to the Climate Resilience Program Manager. As team leader, the Climate Resilience Program Manager coordinates team meetings, develops connections with other MFT programs, and supports outreach for the program to farmers and the general public. This position is responsible for identifying and pursuing opportunities to sustain or expand climate resilience programs at MFT. This full-time position can be based out of Maine Farmland Trust’s Portland or Belfast office, or can be remote but must remain based in Maine.

Location: This is a full-time position that can be based out of Maine Farmland Trust’s Portland office, Belfast office, or be remote, with travel to project sites as necessary.

Salary Range: $66,000 to $71,000

Farm Business Planning Project Manager

The Farm Business Planning Project Manager is a member of MFT’s Farm Network team. The position provides direct technical assistance and training to farmers participating in MFT’s Farm Business Planning program. Technical Assistance (TA) provided will be in service of helping farmers move towards their self-determined business goals and long-term sustainability. This includes building trusting, honest relationships with farmers, identifying and clarifying goals and challenges within a business, and creating action plans to address those goals and challenges. This position will primarily provide individualized, one-on-one TA to farmers at all stages of business development. This role is ideal for an individual who can work with a high level of autonomy within a collaborative team.

Location: This is a full-time position that can be based out of Maine Farmland Trust’s Portland office, Belfast office, or be remote, with travel to project sites as necessary.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $62,000

We offer a possible salary range describing the level of compensation we’d expect to offer for the advertised position.
