No better time to join the herd: July is new member month

When MFT took root in 1999, we had a small and dedicated membership of 400 people, mostly in Waldo County. Now we have almost 6,000 members across the state. Our members are people who recognize the importance of protecting farmland and helping farmers thrive. They care about the resiliency of Maine's rural economy, and the sustainability of our environment. They are farmers, eaters, conservationists, advocates, policymakers, artists, community-builders, foodies, and people who love Maine.

This July, we are launching New Member Month. Our goal is to sign up 100 new members over the course of the month! One hundred new members will bring our membership to over 6,000 people who actively support the future of farming in Maine and are laying the foundation for a sustainable future. Over 400,000 acres of Maine farmland will change hands this decade, as the majority of Maine's farmland owners age and retire. We need to ensure this land stays in farming by protecting farmland and supporting farmers, and we can't do it without you. If you're not a member, please consider joining today.

Join (and grow) our community of members:

New Member Appreciation: Every new member during the month of July will be entered into a weekly drawing to win MFT goods -- hats, t-shirts, and even concert tickets!

Bring a friend! For the month of July, if you join as a new member and get a friend to join MFT at the Individual level or higher, and you'll both receive the brand new Grow Farms, Grow Food tote or hat (your choice)!

Already a member? Here are some other ways to help us grow:

Host a Food for Thought potluck or film night. We will set you up with the tools and support you need to have a house party and conversation about the future of farming. You invite your friends, we’ll be there to talk with you and share what's happening in farming and food today.

Be an MFT ambassador. Our members, who recognize the importance of the work we do, are our best champions. We will set you up with a toolkit to ask your friends about supporting, at any level, MFT and the work we do.

Have other ideas about how to introduce new folks to our work? Please let us know!
